One of the most important specifications that you will need to know when you buy a new furnace is what is known as the AFUE racing. This is important because it tells you how efficient the furnace is and how much it will cost to run, something which is very important if you are trying to keep your heating bills down. An economic furnace uses much less gas in order to put out the same amount of heat, and a good review in this department is something to look out for.

As well as looking at furnace efficiency you need to take a look at the various furnace sizes, since this will also affect how well the furnace can heat your home. Some people may think that a small gas furnace to be sufficient, but actually they may find they should have chosen a larger model, and by looking at the heat output of the various furnace sizes you should be able to avoid this mistake. Trane furnace sizes can cover the whole range of needs, including small compact furnaces for a small house, right up to the large whole of house furnaces, which can supply heating and hot water to many residents.

Remote control operation

A highly regarded furnace is the Trane XC95m series. This is a three-stage gas furnace, which uses advanced ComfortLink II technology so that the furnace is a self-configuring model. There is also the option of a Telephone Access Module (TAM) which enables you to adjust the furnace remotely. It is a high-efficiency furnace with a 95% AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) and uses a variable-speed fan motor to give consistent heat, while it also acts as a dehumidifier using Comfort-R™ technology. The cabinet is insulated and can be installed with either left or right flow.

A Trane two stage furnace is the XV80 Series. Retailing at about $3200, this gives efficient performance at 80% efficiency, using a variable-speed fan to give a good flow of warm air. It is a durable furnace, which uses a direct vent and gives up to 79,000 BTU. Dimensions are 40" high x 28" depth, a small footprint meaning it is a small compact unit that can fit in most domestic locations. It has multi-port, in-shot burners and a one-piece heat exchanger. A similar model is the Trane XL80 Series. This is also a two-stage gas furnace with 80% efficiency, though gives 63,000 BTU of heat and has a four-speed blower motor, microelectronic controller and one-piece heat exchanger

Automatic heat controls

As part of its range there are gas condensing furnaces available, which can also be a highly efficient option. As with other furnace choices, there are also extra options that needs to be considered, including the thermostat and the automatic heat controls which will give you total control over the heat output.

The types of furnace are very varied, but Trane has such a wide range it is almost certainly possible to find one that will suit your particular house or apartment. Take note of the heat output, which is usually done in BTU or British thermal units. A specialist heating contractor will be able to give you could advice in this regard, to make sure that your Trane heating system is powerful enough for your needs.

I had a Trane furnace in my old house, and now I am thinking of buying a used type in order to save some money. However, after looking at some of the new Trane furnace types that have been mentioned on this site I think it might be an idea to spend more money and get a completely new unit.

I think you are right, because once you have an idea, generally speaking about how to choose the best furnace you can then go off and do a lot of other research. It also helps when you're talking to gas furnace suppliers, because you can talk to them in their own language a little bit.
